Rainbow trout are an important biomedical model, as well as being quite tasty! A review of the model system can be found in Thorgaard et al. 2002 (Comp Biochem Physiol B 133: 609-646) ( PubMed ).
Through a collaboration with Dr. Caird Rexroad III at the NCCCWA, the HCGS distributes a 10x BAC library constructed by Amplicon Express (Pullman, WA, USA) from a Swanson YY doubled haploid male. The library was characterized by Palti et al. 2004 (Animal Genetics 35:130-133) ( PDF ).
Plates and filters for the library are available from the HCGS.
