BAC Resources

Bacterial Artificial Chromosome (BAC) libraries have become a standard platform to support genome-based research. BAC libraries are an initial step to the development of comprehensive physical maps. These maps support the positional cloning of genes responsible for phenotypic variation. They also facilitate access to gene sequences for comparative studies of development and for phylogenetic analysis of orthologous genes, knowledge that is critical to reveal patterns of developmental evolution. The HCGS aims to provide BAC libraries for species which are important models for studies of ecology, evolution and environmental biology.
